Lets get started….

Life has changed lots for me in the past year, I got married to my wonderful husband, moved back home to the area I grew up in where all of my family and friends live and more recently reduced the number of days I do my consultancy work.

I have been meditating and praying to the universe for help with my life purpose and next steps and just over the past few days it has started to become clear. I changed the information on my home page today to begin the shift. I know my purpose is to help other people improve their health and happiness and today is the beginning of my new journey exploring exactly how I’ll do it.

I have lots of ideas and I feel very excited about these changes in the days and weeks ahead. Keep an eye on my website as I begin to change the information and focus over the up and coming months. I’ll keep you posted on my developments. My parting thoughts are, when you are on the right path you know and feel it, your motivation increases and your drive too, if you are not feelings these things then consider what is missing…maybe this will help, speak soon.


Fable of the hedgehog

It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals died because of the cold.

The hedgehogs, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm.
This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one
wounded their closest companions.

After awhile, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and
they began to die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth.

Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. They learned to live with the little wounds caused by the close relationship with their companions in order to receive the warmth that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.

Moral of the story:

The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others
and can admire the other person’s good qualities.

Month 2

Heading into February and beginning to feel the benefits of the detox. Have lost those extra flabby bits from festive eating and feeling slim and light again. Skin had a bit of a clear out and it’s also beginning to settle down now. The first month is definitely the hardest so it should be all down hill from here!

Eating in hotels

Most decent hotels will help you out with your eating requirements if you ask. Tonight I had salmon with stir fried veg with a touch of garlic and rice, it was very tasty and I realised my taste buds are coming back as I could taste all the flavours and didn’t need to add anything to make it taste better….happy days 🙂

Only 10 weeks to go!

This past week has had its challenges with staying at a hotel all week and being away from home for the weekend. Eating out always has hurdles for example we had a side salad with an omelette in a vegetarian cafe and forgot to ask them to leave the dressing off. It takes a while to pre-empt what might arrive on your plate but you should definitely always ask how the dish comes. We had chips with our omelette and although they don’t break the detox rules because they are potato, they still feel like cheating. I would recommend avoiding chips or limiting them to one 75g portion per week.

As a result I’ve taken to eating the same meal each night at the hotel to avoid having to keep trying to come up with options, but I don’t mind that and if I grow tired with it I can try changing it.

I was feeling very positive and full of energy last week and hoping for more of the same this week. I’m starting on aloe vera juice tomorrow so I’ll let you know how that goes. I hope your detox is going well and please remember to let me know how you’re doing with it.

1 week down 11 to go!

That’s the first week of detox well behind me and week 2 is shaping up very nicely. I am back at work and finding it much easier as I normally eat healthier when working away. Haven’t discovered any new delights for the menu, but it will be interesting to find out how I will manage with hotel food for 4 days. I might become known as the difficult customer, but as long as they don’t do anything nasty to my food! Watch this space 🙂

Day four and feeling iffy

Yesterday was my first meal out, I had a jacket potato with prawns, no sauce, no butter and no salad dressing, the only thing that made it nice to eat was some olive oil I got on the side 🙂

Last night we had a really nice dinner. Tuna steaks, with salad and veggie egg fried rice. Brown rice added to finely chapped green beans, pepper and spring onion, with 2 eggs and 1 yolk mixed through and stirred in wok. Eggs were a bit white, but it tasted really nice.

For a snack we had rice cakes with Whole Earth peanut butter and St Dalfours raspberry jam which has no sugars just fruit and apple juice to sweeten.

Please remember that sugar is still sugar even if it’s in fruit so if your goal is to lose weight, limit the intake of treats like this to 2 rice cakes 3 times a week.

Woke up this morning feeling a bit tried and fed up. The withdrawal from sugar is starting to kick in, but starting to feel more like myself after 2 rice cakes with banana for a little sugar lift.

Chicken pieces and mixed veg slowly cooked in veggie bullion stock is on the agenda for tonight with small jacket potato and salad, yum yum.

Day 1 over, day 2 almost complete

Well I have to say day 1 was a struggle. My partner Grant and I are doing the platinum detox together only he is having red meat once a week as he feels he needs it. We didn’t prepare properly and as a result we didn’t have enough detox friendly food at home so we both got a bit hungry! We did make a rather nice dinner though which consisted or the following

One large salmon fillet pan friend in small amount of garlic extra virgin olive oil, served on a bed of tomato vegetables with brown rice which included a tin of chopped tomatoes, level teaspoon of organic honey, 1 small red onion, fresh ginger and garlic chopped finely, 1 small red pepper, 1 small courgette, 1 small tin of drained sweet corn. Cook rice then mix together with veg in wok and serve salmon on top.

A nice little snack we had today was a rice cake with reduced fat houmous, sliced cooked ham and sliced tomato with black pepper and a few olives.

Please be careful when buying your food as many of the products which are in packets and seem to be detox friendly are not. For example most packets of cooked meat have a whole host of rubbish in them including wheat and sugar to make them taste better!! Also watch out for the ingredients on olives the dressing can have all sorts in it, so the rule is ALWAYS CHECK THE INGREDIENTS BEFORE YOU BUY.

Our dinner tonight is smoked cod loin with a jacket potato and steam veg, can’t wait.!!
